In Summary, please consider the work of two specialists Dr. Lynn Staheli, MD: "His research on developmental variations during childhood showed that conditions such as flexible flatfeet, intoeing, and bowlegs are normal variations that resolve without treatment. This information contributed significantly to the decline of unnecessary, ineffective, and unpleasant treatments, like corrective shoes, night splints, braces, and shoes." -from his profile in: www.global-help.org Dr. William Rossi, DPM Who was among the first podiatrists who recognized that children's footwear was the beginning of adult foot ills. |
Barefoot to school!?To most Americans this sounds insane, but many developed nations support children going barefoot to school with no dire consequence. This includes Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, among others. In our own country, Amish children and Hawaiian children often go to school barefoot. In underdeveloped nations, many children don't have the luxury of choice in the matter.
